But as I sit here typing this entry I'm sad that it will go unobserved by far too many of the citizens of this, the greatest country that God ever gave to man, because they're too busy not caring about anything that "doesn't immediately effect myself or my family," or going to the "Huge Flag Day Sales" to take a few minutes to simply put the American Flag up in a place where their neighbors will see their pride in America.
Or are they afraid that displaying our flag will "offend" one or more of their neighbors?
I have only one thing to say to anyone who is offended by our flag.
If the flag of this nation offends you, you're free to leave the country. And don't let the border hit you in the ass on your way out.
I'm sad that some people, sadly including our president, see our flag as a symbol of how we've "oppressed" people, deliberately failing to see how we've liberated TENS OF MILLIONS of people around the world from oppressive dictatorships that kept them impoverished and in chains.
I'm sad that so many choose to not see how millions of people from around the world scrimp and save and even risk their lives, sometimes walking across vast deserts, or by sailing small boats across vast oceans, to come live here and enjoy freedoms and realize the dreams that so many of us take for granted and fail to aspire to.
I'm sad that so many see the war to prevent a second attack on our homeland, one that will no doubt make 9-11 look like a picnic, as "A war of choice" against "An enemy that never attacked us" or that "Had nothing to do with 9-11" yet when offered proof that they're wrong turn a blind eye to it because it doesn't fit their agenda.
In debate after debate on some of the political websites I frequent, I've proven, repeatedly, with documentation, to people like that that they're wrong. That Saddam Hussein DID have a role in the attacks of 9-11. It might have been minor, but without his help and financial support Al Qaida would not have been able to train the people who actually did participate in that attack, and/or so many of the attacks on us and our facilities world wide during the Clinton years that with the exception of one MEDIA CIRCUS of a criminal trial, went unanswered.
I'm sad to see that so many of us won't fly our flag because they "abhor the Capitalist financial system we live under." Yet when challenged on this, as in so many other cases when they're challenged on their beliefs, accuse their challengers of writing "Nasty Hate Mail" to them, or attacking them personally, while refusing to defend, or even simply explain their positions.
How anyone can "abhor" the system that has taken this nation from a colony of the once most powerful nation on the face of the earth, TO BEING the worlds sole financial and military superpower, not to mention made it possible for them to live in comfort with possesions and conveniences that others can only dream about under economic systems that offer them nothing but poverty and the chance to live as slaves to their government, is totally beyond my ability to comprehend.
But most of all, I'm sad to see so many people who are supposed to be smart and educated, who can be taken in by an inexperienced at anything, smooth talking CON MAN, who hates this country with a passion that can't be measured until you count the fact, and the number of times, that he's felt it necessary to constantly go around the world and apologize for everything that made this country great, and everything "we did to oppress this people or that people," while failing to mention, even once, any of the things that we've done to help people all over the world live freely, and in control of their own lives and their own destinies.
We have in the White House a "man" whom the brave people currently serving in our Armed Forces are, at the very least, ASHAMED to admiit is their Commander in Chief. A man whom Veterans despise. A man who can't tell the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day. A man who refused to be seen on camera, on Memorial Day, placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.
The man whom on one trip to Europe REFUSED to go to the American cemetery at Normandy, because "it would offend the Germans." Yet, when he went there a month later to observe the day that that cemetry commemorates, D-Day, found yet another way to insult and desecrate the memories of the brave Americans buried there who gave their lives that day, and in the days, weeks and months that followed, liberating France and eventually the rest of Europe from the Nazi's.
No wonder so many Americans refuse to fly their flag today. The "President," and his Media Lapdogs who can see NO WRONG in anything he does as he slams this country and everything about it, at every chance he gets, takes great pleasure in telling us, and the world, how bad we are instead of how great we are and listing all the things we've done to make the world a better place for all.
Then they turn around and attack anyone who defends this country, including our Armed Forces.
WELL, I'M PROUDLY FLYING MY FLAG TODAY, AS I DO EVERY DAY, BECAUSE I'M PROUD OF MY COUNTRY, IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT IT'S NOT PERFECT.
THIS COUNTRY, FOR ALL OF IT'S FLAWS, IS THE BEST AND MOST FREE COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, BAR NONE!!
ANY OF YOU WHO CAN ONLY FIND FAULT WITH AMERICA ARE MORE THAN WELCOME TO FOLLOW THOSE WHO ARE OFFENDED BY OUR FLAG ACROSS THE BORDERS TO THE THIRD WORLD HELL HOLE OF YOUR CHOICE, AND GOOD RIDDANCE!!!!

| Feeling Completely Helpless |
This is my nephew, Andrew Ward on his 8th birthday, October 13, 2008.
He looks like a typical happy eight year old boy, doesn't he? Looking at this picture would you imagine that less than a month later he would be handed a death sentence? On November 4th Andrew was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor on his brain stem. The medical name for it is a Diffuse Pontine Glioma.

Since being diagnosed with this Andrew has been through hell, and knows he’s going to die, but still hangs in there determined to have as normal a life as possible until then.
My sister Sandy, his grandmother, told me yesterday that in the last week he has gone to pick out his own headstone, the design for it, and his coffin.
She also just found out that on August 15th, the City of Durand(about 20 miles north of Howell), where Andrew and his family were living until recently is having a huge fundraiser/party for Andrew. God willing, he’ll still be with us then.
It is a Motorcycle/Classic Car drive that will go from Birch Run to Durand. It ends at Durand (through the Lions Club). When they end in Durand they will be having a festival type thing with music, games, and food, and vendors selling different things.
I will be there for this because this date was originally set for our 2nd annual family reunion. But we’re moving that back a week so that it won’t interfere with this huge, citywide display of love and support for Andrew.
If any of you would like to show up and help us support Andrew, you’re more than welcome. You don’t need a formal invitation or to bring anything. Just come and have a good time.

If you have ever heard Johnny cash's recitation "ragged old flag" you know that it brings a tear and a feeling of pride. I can trace ancestors who fought and fled oppression from Alsace_Lorraine,to the Scot and Irish high and lowlands,to the Viking north countries who came to America and worked, sacrificed and bled for over 3 centuries now to build hope, prosperity and good will towards humanity under many variances of our flag. Even many years in the colonial days, and were counted among the soldiers of the revolution and every war and "conflict"since. And in the struggle to wrest a living from soil and plains and mines and factories and farms and ranches to build untold wealth and to share that abundance with an often ungrateful, hostile world.
It also brings to mind my pain at knowing that Trumbos and their many kinsmen shot at each other in the war betweeh the states on both sides. i am very proud and will not apoligize for my brave, strong Confederate ancestors and i am just as proud and willing to defend that flag as our other. it angers me to see hatemongers coopt that honored battle flag, and to see the politically correst hatemongers abuse it as"racist" and "slave". No society in human history hasnot known the vile custom of slavery but my ancestors came here as refugees from oppression and"indentures servants(slave by any other definition Spike lee be damned),and were not slavers and had no love for the "peculiar institution". We scots,scot-Irish,Welsh,Scandinavians and just "hillbillies'were nothing but white slaves anyway, they just could not abide the dictates of the Wall Street bankers and mercantilists(sound familiar)and their federal juggernaut that betrayed the first principles and continue to sell our birthright for "gain' and betray the sacrifices of all our people. Oh by the way my native American ancestors, the Catawba, fought like heck in the revolution and every other war and were the only Native American nation to be 100 percent Confederate, they had had enough of lies and betrayals(see the outlaw Josey wales for reference". I love BOTH OUR AMERICAN FLAGS and pray to be more worthy to them and all the Americans they represent.
I am non-partisan,I think both our political parites have broken faith and sold out,my hope is all of us looking honestly at ourselves, our nation and values and learn to respect and be devoted to each other and our great covenant with our creator.and to love one another as Christ loves us,warts and all. Of failing to live up to these things let me say i am guilty and more than most and need forgiveness, grace and to walk the line. God love you all my friends, family and fellow Americans,I cherish you all and pray we can stay connected this time, your friend,Jim trumbo.
